| A few things go hand in hand with the fourth of July-like BBQing, fireworks, and entertaining. Unfortunately, these things can come with a harsh environmental footprint, as well. Some things to keep in mind when celebrating this year: 1. Buy your food wisely! Support organic and local farmers (lots of good food is in season right now!). Plan well and don't buy more than you will consume. Recycle and compost what you can!!!! 2. BBQ wisely! There are a variety of sustainably-produced charcoal, including Wicked Good Charcoal, made from industrial scrap wood, or Kingsford Charwood, which is produced using clean-energy turbine heat. Or opt for propane! Although its origins are not very eco-friendly, it does produce about half the emissions as charcoal. 3. Go and watch a fireworks show instead of having one yourself! Fireworks are not eco-friendly and chances are there will be an event hosted close to you. But if you must have your own-look for biodegradable options like Sekon biodegradable fireworks. Think about the environment this year and enjoy a happy 4th of July! Quote this article on your site
