| Shell hasnít started to drill in the arcticÖyet. But the Shell floating oil drill, Kulluk, is now raring to go in the Beaufort Sea. There has been a lot of controversy about Shellís plan to drill for oil in the arctic only 6 miles offshore from the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Until now, though, it didnít seem very real that there could actually be drilling that close. The first aerial photos of the oil rig bring it all crashing home. Look at these pictures. The rig is 12 miles offshore and even though itís not drilling yet, itís making me squirm and grimace just to look at it.
