| Like most other industries, the fashion world has undergone a sustainable makeover in recent years, with many designers making extensive use of recycled materials and promoting an aesthetic of simplicity. This approach to fashion will be on full display later this year, at New York Fashion Week. Set to take place this fall, excitement is already building for some of the collections that will be showcased. One of the most interesting offerings should come from Himane, which uses "hand-picked, locally-sourced, recycled clothing, donated fabrics, and busted-up umbrellas" to create vintage styles. Himane is owned by Haitian designer Catherine Charlot, who graduated from The Verona Alta Costura School of Fashion and Accessories Design. All proceeds from her collection will be donated towards building a new design school, which was destroyed in the earthquake. You can check out Himane at www.himane.com.
