| Afghanistan's Endaangered Species List | |||
| (Monday, 01 March 2010) Written by greeniac511987 | |||
| Almost always when you hear about Afghanistan in the news, it usually has to do with the War on Terror. However, Afghanistan has some pretty exciting news when it comes to animal conservation. Afghanistan has made great efforts to protect all animals on their endangered species list. Just this week, the large-billed reed warbler and 14 other special species were inducted into Afghanistan's endangered species list. Other animals included snow leopard, Asian cheetah, and the markhor—a wild goat with curling horns. Because the list is only a year old, conservation efforts are in the early stages of planning. However, authorities are still taking their protective duties seriously. Just last week, a snow leopard was saved from poachers. |
