TOPIC: Vegetable Cures

Vegetable Cures 11/16/2008 Karma: 0
I spend a lot of time working with children, and the dry cold season is approaching-meaning more nosebleeds, colds, running noses, etc. I was reading recently that leafy greens are a good source to combat nosebleeds. A daily cup of leafy greens can provide enough Vitamin K to fortify sensitive capillaries and help your blood clot quickly. Interesting, huh?

I was wondering if anyone had any other natural remedies for making it through the cold season?

I don't have any specific natural cold remedies, other than taking zinc, but for allergy attacks pure peppermint oil is a miracle cure! Just rub a small amount on your hand and smell the oil, you will be shocked at how quickly your allergy attack will subside. I had this work for me after having a very strong cat allergy attack, so I hope this helps some other people out there.

Also, lavender oil works wonders for skin dryness and irritation, and it is easily available and cheap, I get mine at Trader Joes. So no need for all those moisturizers and creams full of chemicals. Note of caution, be careful with the clothes you wear if you plan on oiling up in the morning, as some darker colored clothes may bleed onto your skin from the oil, and the oil may get on the outside of your more delicate clothing. It is also best to use the oil after taking a shower/bath. Overall, I recommend using the oil after your nighttime shower!
