I think that depends on how you define the word "political." In the narrowest sense, politics refers to only those affairs that pertain to the government, one's desire to influence the government, or the network of power within the government. However, there are plenty of people, including myself, who would define politics more broadly. The most broad and reasonable definition of politics I was able to find is in the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary. It says politics is "the total complex of relations between people living in society."

According to this definition, almost anything any of us do would have to be considered political, because it is very difficult to do anything at all without affecting the "complex of relations" within your society in some way.

For example, if you decide to purchase a reusable bag at your local Whole Foods store, you are most assuredly affecting relations within your society. You are increasing demand for such bags, and increased demand will likely lead to the production of more such bags. You are supporting Whole Foods rather than supporting a less environmentally conscious institution, and this action also affects economic and social relations within society. You will walk down the street displaying your new bag, which will also alter people's realities in some way.

It may be possible to live in a little environmentally-friendly house by yourself and be totally self-sufficient and never interact with society. That situation would make green living mostly or completely apolitical. However, short of becoming an environmentalist hermit, I don't think there's anything we can do to make our green living totally apolitical.
