Although it is still too early to tell if GMO foods pose a danger to our health it certainly has made root worms and weeds a lot stronger by making them harder to kill. Thanks to the Monsanto Company, who genetically modifies seeds to withstand pesticides and herbicides, root worms have grown immune to the natural pesticide, Bt. What concerns me more than this new breed of worm is the fact that the Monsanto Company will be able to sell their new GMO sweet corn with Bt pesticide as "Fresh Produce". But I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised since the FDA does not require safety studies before approving GMOs and then you have big corporate agriculture lobbying the USDA to reject any and all outside studies when considering applications for new strains of GMOs. If you want to steer clear of this corn I suggest buying from Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s or General Mills as they have refused to carry this "all 100% natural" deliciously modified corn.

All I can say is ew. I have always had huge issues with Monsanto, as do most environmentally informed people, but this is something straight out of horror films. By using pesticides on these GOM corn, the stronger worms and other insects that survive the poisons prevail and reproduce. It is extremely scary to think what else this can do to other creatures, including ourselves. However, with the increase in demand for food, I don't know what it will take for corporations to stop genetically modifying their crops because it is all about being able to create the most output. I am extremely fearful for what may be discovered in the future.

When you mentioned, "the stronger worms and other insects that survive the poisons prevail and reproduce" I could not help but think of Darwin's theory. No matter what we do to try to kill these insects, they can evolve to the point where it won't effect them.
I don't know how I feel about GM foods. It is almost as if I am eating a science experiment or something. It just doesn't seem natural.
