Eco-friendly sofa 07/14/2008 Karma: 0
Hey, I am thinking of replacing my couches with eco-friendly organic stuff. Having shopped around a little I realized it is going to cost since all organic materials are very expencive. A few days ago , browsing craiglist I found this business www.ecosofadesign.com and couldn't believe it. They offer many comtemporary sofa styles and I already have my eye set on one of them. However, the thing that conserns me is that they claim that the steel they are using to make legs is also organic. Is steel an organic material? Any thoughts?

Steel is typically made from iron and carbon-therefore making it an organic material.

I do not know what would make it non organic-there may be different forms of modern steel that have non organic materials in it.

I do know that steel is the most widely recycled material in the US. It is cheaper to recycle steel than to mine iron ore and manipulate it through the production process to form 'new' steel.
