Parts of Los Angeles county banned the plastic bag yesterday and, as if on cue, this parody hit Youtube:

I love it! So catchy!

I don't use paper or plastic bags anymore, and it always surprises me when I notice someone toting them around. That's SO two years ago!

SF, then LA. This is really exciting news! Pretty soon the whole state of California will be, and I have genuine faith in the country being plastic bag free by 2015. The world's a changin'.

I really like the video. It is creative and informative! It is also good to hear that a major U.S. city has banned plastic bags. I live up in San Jose, CA where there have been attempts made to instate a one use shopping bag ban. It has failed in the past, however new developments say we are not ready to give up. A new proposal is in the works that will give shoppers the option of a recycled paper bag at the additional cost of $0.15 and the bag must be made of at least 40% recycled material. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all of the details fall into place. I think it takes one step at time to start banning the "single use plastic toxic bags" everywhere!

Most grocery stores I know of already offers the option of a recycled paper bag alongside the option of the plastic ones at no additional cost to the consumer. Personally I usually take the paper bag instead sometimes instead of my cotton bag because I see a use for them in my home. Admittedly I sometimes take the plastic as well to use for garbage disposal in my home. I don't think I would choose the paper bag if it were to suddenly cost me extra. It is great that we are moving away from disposable plastic bag usage! Many people do not even find a second use for these bags after using them and simple disposing of them. Since SF and LA are major cities it will make a great impact for our environment.
