Electric Car! 10/29/2007 Karma: 3
I just heard on the news this morning that a company called Better World is investing a ton of money on building an ALL-electric car! And they also plan to build charging stations into many existing parking lots.

An engineer in Bozeman, Montana developed a solar-powered car called the Solar Bug.

The Christian Science Monitor wrote an article about it in Nov., 2006 (http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/1115/p01s10-ussc.html)

There has been a ton of electric cars developed over the years: two commercially available models were GM's EV1 and the currently available Tesla motors vehicle. Check it out at http://www.teslamotors.com/

Thank you for the link to Tesla! I signed up for the newsletter. I may have Tesla taste on a Solar Bug budget.

It is so exciting to FINALLY see a variety of transportation alternatives coming to market. I was very impressed with the specs for Tesla.

Is there any progress or initiative to assist us as we make the necessary transition of replacing this nation's fleet of gasoline-powered automobiles? As fuel, food, etc. gets more expensive, our ability to replace vehicles diminishes exponentially.

I think one of the most effective ways to support the alternative fuel market is by directly buying into it. If you have the resources to go hybrid, electric, etc-I think it is important to continue to add to the demand. Many environmental organizations also have campaigns that you can contribute to or Congress members that you can write to urging stricter regulations on our country's use of fossil fuels.

I recently found out about a city-specific electric car that will hit the market in 2009. It is cheap, safe and emission free:
